Drawing from research on memory spaces, lynching memorials, former slave plantations turned museums, and other sites of commemoration, I examine how these spaces can challenge sanitized narratives, amplify marginalized voices, and foster a more truthful understanding of the past. I also look at how memory travels across communities, shaping local experiences while connecting to broader national and global conversations about justice, equity, and remembrance.
